About The Cricket Guru

Hi, I am Sreekanth
I have been playing cricket since I was 10 years old. Growing up in India, cricket was not just a sport. It was how we spent every free moment, every evening after school, every weekend. That love for the game has never left me.
Since moving to England in 2023, I have been playing club cricket here in the UK, continuing a journey that now spans 15 years. I bat at number five, right-handed, and open the bowling as a fast pace bowler.
Why I Started The Cricket Guru
When I started playing club cricket in the UK, I needed to upgrade my kit. I spent hours going through forums, YouTube videos, and Amazon listings, trying to work out which bat was worth buying, which helmet passed the correct UK safety standard, and whether the expensive gloves were genuinely better or just expensive branding.
It was frustrating. There was no single, honest place that gave clear answers for UK buyers without burying the point in ten paragraphs of filler.
So I built one. The Cricket Guru is where I put everything I know about cricket gear, everything I have researched, and honest opinions shaped by 15 years of playing the game at various levels. My goal is simple: help you spend less time researching and more time playing.
Who This Site Is For
Every guide on this site is written for UK cricketers. That means prices in pounds, products available on Amazon UK, and recommendations that make sense for the kind of cricket people actually play here. Whether that is a recreational weekend game, a club match, or junior cricket for your child.
Whether you are buying your first bat, a parent looking for the right kit for your child, or a club player ready to invest in a proper upgrade, these guides are written with you in mind.
How I Research and Review
Every buying guide on this site involves proper research. That means going through hundreds of Amazon UK customer reviews, reading what club cricketers say on forums, analysing the specifications across price brackets, and drawing on my own experience of using cricket gear over 15 years in both India and the UK.
Where I have personally used a product, I say so. Where I have not, I am clear about that too. I include honest cons in every review, not just the positives. I am a huge Dhoni fan, and I have always tried to bring the same straight, no-spin approach to my reviews that he brought to the game.
